YFL Ceramic Ball Valve Operation, Installation and Maintenance Manual

YFL Ceramic Ball valves are widely used in abrasive and corrosive working conditions in Mining, Power, Metallurgy and Petrochemical etc. The Operation, Installation and Maintenance Manual are as follows:


Part I Storage


1、YFL Ceramic ball valves should be stored in doors away from vibration and/or mechanical shock and both of the ends must be sealed tightly.

2、When transit, please handle the ceramic ball valves with care andavoid any sudden shock or dropping.

3、After a long period of storage, it is recommended to clean the ceramic ball valves before installing, and make sure that they are flexible to open and close.


Part II Installation and Operation


1、Before installation, please ensure all relevant equipment are effective

2、Do not handle the valve roughly when transit.  Sudden shock or dropping of the ceramic ball valves may cause damage.

3、While assembling, please check that the flanges are properly aligned to ensure gasket contact evenly. Assemble the nuts and bolts in the order showed as below figure. This will prevent uneven loading on the gasket and risk of flange breakage.

4、During installation, do not use a hammer or other hard objects to hit YFL ceramic ball valves, which might damage the ceramic parts.

5、Once the ceramic valve is unable to operate or stuck, please do not force the valve to turn on of turn off. Attempt to flush the line firstly, and disassemble the valve from the pipeline and remove foreign material from the valve and re-install the valve.


Part III Actuator Installation


1、Generally, the actuator mounting kits dimensions is designed according to ISO 5211.

2、If the actuator is not supplied by our company, please contact us for toque value to select suitable actuator.

3、The initial actuator position should be at full-open or full-closed position, so that position of ceramic ball valve is same to position of actuator.

4、Ensure the actuator is concentric to the actuator with a tolerance of ±0.05mm,excess eccentric may cause leakage from the stem packing, or the ceramic ball may be broken.


Part IV Possible Failures and trouble-shooting


In general, we provide a one(1) year warranty after the ceramic ball valves are put into use in proper conditions, but no longer than 18 months after delivery. Damages caused by improper using and human negligence will not covered by the warranty.  If the valves are disabled, please perform the following steps to minimize the downtime before returning them to us.

Flange Leakage

The flange bolts and(or) nuts have not been tightened up evenly

Loose the bolts and(or) nuts, and re-tighten upthem evenly

Scraps are sandwiched between the raised faces of flanges

Clean the flanges


Gasket failures


Replace the failed gasket with a new one


Stem Packing Leakage


Packing gland is deflective or is not impacted

retighten up the gland bolt evenly



Lackpacking


Add new packing


Packing failures


Replace the failed packing


Valve does not operate or abnormal


Pressure of the supply air is insufficient


Adjust the pressure of the supply air

The installed actuator has not ample torque

Replace the actuator

The actuator is damaged

Replace the actuator

The control signal does not work or become abnormal


Inspect the control signal and make sure it works well

The differential pressure across the valve exceeds the limits

Inspect the differential pressure across the valve and make sure it is within limits

Valve does not open or close fully

The pressure of the supply air is not ample.

Re-regulate the pressure of the supply air

Actuator limit stops are damaged

Repair or replace the actuator limit stops

Scraps are sandwiched between the sealing face

Remove the valve from the line, and clear the foreign objects.
